Silicone rubber sealing ring has excellent heat resistance, low temperature elasticity and particularly excellent resistance to oxidation and ozone, with high air permeability and selectivity to gas permeation. Good electrical insulation properties (volume resistance greater than 10 ohm.cm, breakdown voltage above 30kv/mm), corona resistance and arc resistance. However, by adding conductive carbon black, nickel powder, aluminum powder and silver powder, appropriate conductivity can be obtained (volume resistance can reach 5-0.02 ohm.cm).
Silicone rubber seals have low surface energy, are hygroscopic, and act as insulation. Water resistance, but poor water vapor resistance, not recommended for pressures above 50psi. Compatible with most oils, chemicals and solvents. Generally, silicone rubber has good acid and alkali resistance, acceptable resistance to polar solvents, but not alkane hydrogen and aromatic oils. It is not recommended to be used in most concentrated solvents, oils, concentrated acids and diluted caustic soda solutions.
Silicone rubber sealing ring has much better heat resistance than ordinary rubber, can be used almost forever at 150° with no change in performance, can be used continuously for 10,000 hours at 200°, and can also be used for a period of time at 350°. Widely used in occasions requiring heat resistance, thermos seal ring, pressure cooker ring heat-resistant handle.
Silicone rubber is a highly active adsorbent material, which is an amorphous substance, and its chemical formula is mSiO2•nH2O. It is insoluble in water and any solvent, non-toxic and tasteless, chemically stable, and does not react with any substances except strong alkali and hydrofluoric acid. Various types of silicone rubber sealing rings form different microporous structures due to their different manufacturing methods. The chemical composition and physical structure of the silicone rubber seal determine that it has many characteristics that are difficult to replace by other similar materials: high adsorption performance, good thermal stability, stable chemical properties, and high mechanical strength.
Silicone sealing rings are mainly used for waterproof sealing and preservation of daily necessities such as fresh-keeping boxes, rice cookers, water dispensers, lunch boxes, insulation boxes, incubators, water cups, ovens, magnetized cups, coffee pots, etc. Without the silicone seal, the sealing function of these items is lost.
